Thunee Tournament

• Four-Player Thunee

A single team member from each team will be nominated to manage the scorecards. This person cannot be changed during the game.

Should the scorekeeper(s) not reflect the correct score prior to the dealing pack being cut; the team will forfeit the points allocated.

• The Card Game values are as follows:

Ace 11 points, King 3 points, Queen 2 points, Jack 30 points, Ten 10 points and Nine is valued at 20 points.

1. Best of 3 games will be played in each round(team reaching 2 first will be declared the winner and proceed to the next round).
2. Teams to determine who will deal the cards at the start of the game.
3. All games will be played on a 12 ball basis irrespective if ‘khanaak’ is played.
4. The trump man must keep his trump card on the table before his partner receives his cards. All players to receive their cards before a player can come down or call thunee.
5. No “last card trump”. A re-deal will apply if the trump man’s first four is less than 10 in value and if he has no ‘Jhodi’s’ e.g. (king and queen of the same suite).
6. If whilst dealing a card is accidentally flipped over, it is compulsory that there is a re-deal.
7. Game to be replayed. If the ‘trumpman’ has 6 cards of the same suite. (Game to continue if any other player has 6 cards of the same suite).
8. The highest bidder will be given the 1st chance to play thunee failing which the opposition can call thunee. If this is the case the highest bidder forfeits his rights to call thunee.
9. No thunee can be played if the 1st card is played. (Teams to have a gentlemen agreement).
10. Players are allowed to ask “what trump” within reason. (Teams to have a gentlemen agreement).
11. Undercutting is allowed (this allows for a strategic game plan).

• 4 Ball Rule

1. Thunee won                
2. Double called incorrectly
3. If double is called at 11 ball point (corner house)
4. 104 called & lost
5. Wrong catch is taken
6. Wrong come down or playing out of turn
7. Banging of cards and signs
8. Cross colouring

• 3/6/8 Ball Rule

1. 3 ball if ‘khanaak’ won. (’Khanaak’ is called when the opposition having a hand which is less than ‘jhodi’s’ plus last hand minus opposition ‘jhodi’s’)
2. 6 ball if ‘khanaak’ is incorrectly called. (There will be a 6 ball if the opposition is able to match the required count)
3. 8 ball if team caught playing thunee

• Tournament rules & conditions

In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, the conduct or results of the competition, or any other matter relating to a competition, the decision of tournament referees shall be final and binding.

Unruly behaviour, cheating, foul language and bringing the game into disrepute will automatically disqualify the offending team. We trust that the game will be played in a true spirit of ‘comradie’.

All games will be played under the clock system i.e. Round 1, Round 2, Round 3. You will have 90 minutes to complete your ‘best of 3’ games. All other rounds, the time to complete your games will be decided by the tournament director.

If the games are incomplete by the allocated time, the team with the highest ball cards will qualify to the next round.

Smoking will only be allowed in designed smoking areas and not in the tournament area.
