hikes at Umtamvuna Nature Reserve, which is famous for its breathtaking views of the Umtamvuna river gorge. Moving towards the coastline, the prehistoric fossil beds of the Petrified Forest on the stretch of beach between the Wild Coast Sun and Mzamba River is a must-visit during the summer months. Just an hour’s drive from Wild Coast Sun, Oribi Gorge offers incredible waterfall viewing and bird-watching as well as adventure activities including zip-lining, abseiling and white-water rafting. Adrenalin-junkies can also sample the highest swing in the world at this popular Eastern Cape tourist attraction.

Oceanic activities

When you think petrified forest, you may expect to see a forest in the traditional sense, but you would be wrong. The forest does not stand tall next to you but rather underneath – as you walk, you will see 80-million-year-old fossilised trees and deposits on the rocks.
