The top holiday destination in KZN turned its coming of age into a night of glamour and jackpots.

Top KwaZulu-Natal holiday destination Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom came of age, celebrating its 18th birthday on 1 December with all the trimmings - infrastructure upgrades, winners, and cake!

The birthday celebrations started with a draw of R180 000 in cash up for grabs and Birthday Bingo on 6 December.

“As we celebrate our birthday, we reflect over the years – including the most trying times as a result of the pandemic - with a tremendous sense of pride and accomplishment and look forward to an even brighter future,” said the General Manager, Virath Gobrie.

A rich upbringing and prosperous future

The Sun International property offers a perfect blend of relaxation and inspiration due to its unique Zulu-inspired architecture, surrounded by lush green hills, and picturesque views of the Indian Ocean.

Famously known as ‘The Kingdom of Winners,' Sibaya continues to develop and grow future leaders within the gaming and hospitality industry. It also contributes significantly to the provincial fiscus and is a key contributor to the local economy.

“Together with the Sibaya Community Trust, close to R300 million has been ploughed back into community projects and welfare since we opened our doors,” says Gobrie.

Sibaya Casino paid more than R94 million in jackpots between January and November 2022 – October alone saw 11 millionaires created, sharing more than R18 million.

Gobrie stated that Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom continues to deliver in all facets of the business. “We are a distinctly African casino which provides unique and exciting gaming and entertainment experience. We are passionate about our business, deliver exceptional customer service, and recognise our people that contribute to the success of this organisation.”

All upgraded

To continue being a destination of choice, Sibaya upgraded the casino while plans to refurbish the Sibaya Lodge and the Royal Sibaya Hotel are underway.

All third-floor rooms in the Sibaya Lodge and all 36 rooms at the Royal Sibaya Hotel will undergo renovation, while the casino’s Salon Prive will enjoy a soft refurb.

The gaming floor already enjoys a renovated look, which includes a Slots Sun Lounge area with new machines, the latest games, and more luxurious chairs.

The Smoking Casino area also underwent reconfiguring to provide a better gaming experience for Slots and Table customers. “We have re-designed the Slots Smoking Floor to create more space and installed 148 new machines this year, offering exciting new options for our MVGs.”
