Sun International Sport Ambassadors

Multiple European Tour winner Brandon Stone recently joined fellow golfer and Major champion Louis Oosthuizen in the role as Sun International sport ambassador.

Sun International does an incredible amount for South African golf. The company has wonderful golf courses, of which the Gary Player Country Club is one of my favourites in the world. And the Sun International Pro-Am tournaments on the Sunshine Tour are a fantastic way for young, up-and-coming South African golfers to engage with the very high profile clientele that Sun International draws.

Sun International Sports Development

Recognising the need for sports development in South Africa, Sun International is one of the founding members of the Sports Trust.

In association with Nedbank, the Sports Trust Golf Challenge was started in 1999, which provided an opportunity for business leaders to participate in this annual fundraising event. To date, in excess of R22-million has been raised for golf and sports development in South Africa. The beneficiaries include the South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) and the South African Disabled Golf Association (SADGA).

The funds have made golf more accessible to the youth from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing them with equipment and kit to help them achieve success in this sport.

At Sun International, we endeavour to provide children from all sectors of the community with sport development programmes that allow them to participate in sports at the highest level. By giving children a sports-oriented goal and a positive future to look forward to, our aim it to help counteract the many social challenges the youth face in South Africa today.
