CHUTNEY & NAGARA NITE
Showtime Promotions presents multiple Satma award winners Flash Entertainers for a spectacular musical night with folk, traditional and chutney music.
Nagara has been traditionally known as a percussion instrument used for its rhythmic sounds at festivities. Originally stemmed from India where men dressed in eastern attire, danced to Nagara music as women were not allowed to perform.
In keeping the tradition alive, the oldest known Nagara dancer in South Africa, Harry Rampersad of Royal Star has been performing for the past 65years. He dances to pay homage to the Goddess of knowledge, music, and arts, Saraswathi and often wore a crown to imitate her.
The lineup for the night will include segments of Chutney and Nagara music featuring live dancers of Flash. The well acclaimed Chutney and Nagara bands will be setting the stage alight with the very popular Chutney & Nagara hits that will have you dancing to your hearts content.
Durban don’t miss out on a night of glamour, entertainment and music for the entire family at Chutney and Nagara Nite on 3 August 2024, at the iZulu Theatre, Sibaya at 20h00.
Tickets are priced between R120 - R180
