Sun International is upgrading the gaming system from a smart to MAGSTRIPE solution across all our casinos, in a phased approach.
This upgrade will ensure a more seamless and efficient experience for all our Most Valued Guests.
Important Information for MVG Members
Your Casino Points and Leisure Points, and any remaining cash balances and promotional credits (XtraPlay) on your current MVG card will be fully available for use upon reopening.
You can continue enjoying the benefits of your MVG membership without disruption.
Phased Upgrade Schedule
The upgrade will occur at the following Sun International casinos on the specified dates:
- Time Square: Upgrade complete
- Carnival City: Upgrade complete
- Sun City: Upgrade complete
- GrandWest: Upgrade complete
- Sibaya: Upgrade complete
- Wild Coast:Upgrade complete
- Boardwalk: 2025
- Flamingo & Windmill: 2025
- Meropa & Golden Valley: 2025
What to Expect During the Upgrade
- The casino will close around 22h00 on Sunday and reopen on Monday after 17h00.
- Our restaurants, bars, outlets on and around the casino floor will be closed, and hotels will be operational during the casino closure period.
Will my current MVG card still work?
- Yes, your current MVG card will continue to work at your regular Sun International casino.
- If you visit another Sun International casino that has already upgraded to the magstripe system, you will need to get a new MVG card.
Moving Your Funds Between Casinos
During the Upgrade Phase
To help streamline your experience while visiting different casinos during the upgrade, choose between these two actions:
- Cash Out Your Funds: Cash out your remaining balance on your MVG card and take it with you
OR - Visit the Cash Desk for help in making sure your funds are available at another Sun International Casino, ready for your next visit.
Card Identification
Ensure you have the correct card for the upgraded casinos you plan to visit.
Scenario A: Chip card
- I only play at this casino.
- This is my last casino I played at.
(The MVG card does not need to be replaced.)
Scenario B: 18-digit SDS account number, above the player’s name
- I am visiting from another casino.
- This is my “home” casino, but I last played at another Sun International casino.
(The MVG card will need to be replaced)
