Sibaya gets behind KZN cerebral palsy upliftment

Under its 2022 theme, “Empowering Persons with Disabilities through resourceful, sustainable, and safe environments”, the Sibaya Community Trust set out to build a world-class facility for the KZN Cerebral Palsy Association.

Vivian Reddy, Chairman of Sibaya Casino and Sibaya Community Trust, expressed how heartened he was to hand over the legacy project to the KZN Cerebral Palsy Association. The association caters to “the cerebral palsied and learning disabled of all ages and groups in KwaZulu-Natal to enable them to attain their maximum level of independence and integration into the community.”

“We fully understand that people with disabilities already have a difficult life. At Sibaya Community Trust, we love projects that make the lives of vulnerable people easier,” explained Reddy. He added that social upliftment is the organisation’s passion and they saw it as their duty to help the KZN Cerebral Palsy Association with their goal of helping the differently abled lead meaningful lives.

"A space for fun times"

“The new facility will help provide an environment that is conducive to stimulation programmes and acts as a space for fun times. It’s important since no two people with cerebral palsy experience it the same. Some may have mild symptoms which are barely noticeable while others are more profoundly affected and require help with many aspects of their daily life,” explained Reddy.

Reddy thanked Construction for Africa for their dedication and compassion in the building process.

He also wished the KZN Cerebral Palsy Association many successes and looked forward to hearing about how these classrooms impact the lives of those with cerebral palsy.

Musa Hadebe, the recently appointed chairman of the KZN Cerebral Palsy Association, expressed his gratitude for the much-needed facility.

The Sibaya Community Trust has invested R250 million into social upliftment thus far and is set to host an event on philanthropic responsibility. Reddy believes it’ll be a chance to acknowledge NPOs like the KZN Cerebral Palsy Association that work extremely hard to create a conducive atmosphere and environment for vulnerable people.

“We have a large portfolio of evidence of our humanitarian projects. We’re committed to serving humanity – it is the work of God,” said Reddy, who added that the Sibaya Community Trust already has multiple projects in the pipeline for the new year.
