Things to Do with Kids in Port Elizabeth
For a family holiday in Port Elizabeth, you can’t go wrong by booking in at The Boardwalk. It’s a one-stop fun shop for family activities – locals and residents flock to The Boardwalk because it’s the best place to find things to do with the kids.
Let’s take a look at some of the fun to be had…
At the Boardwalk Hotel
The 24-hour buzz at The Boardwalk isn’t just because of the casino or the pumping rhythms from the latest theatre show.
You’ll find it’s more because of the all-round atmosphere that caters for everyone – from the very smallest member of the family, right up to keeping mom and dad entertained on a late date night out.
Feel like going for a spin?
For some fast-paced fun, head on over to the Speedway Go-Kart Track. This indoor go-kart track is better suited for the bigger kids, as they’ll need to pass a height test before they’re allowed behind the wheel.
The smaller kids can, however, go for their own spin on the carousel and other fun rides. Zoom off for a day of fast-paced fun!
Easy does it
But if you’d like to spend the day more sedately, enjoy a couple of rounds of Adventure Golf! This 9-hole course is made for family fun so challenge each other and the winner gets to choose a lunch spot! You could also team up for a family game of ten-pin bowling and skittle your way towards the evening.
Big fun on the big screen
With 5 cinemas to choose from, you’ll find something good for everyone to watch at the Nu-Metro Boardwalk Cinemas! The kids are catered for, especially here, so pick up a Fun Pack for the little ones, for guaranteed giggles.
You’ll find Fun Packs on sale at the Sweets from Heaven store, and each one includes a movie ticket, treat and tokens for some arcade game fun at the Magic Company.
Open Sky Entertainment Park
Head inland for a half-hour drive and you’ll find the Open Sky Entertainment Park. It’s here that the kids can run wild and you can chill out over a lazy lunch. At the Animal Farm, the kids can cuddle a bunny or help feed the ducks and then zoom off to bounce on the big trampoline.
Keep them bouncing on the jumping castle or let them loose on the fun rides. On a hot day, the kids can cool off in one of the two pools made for little people up to the age of twelve. Oh, and a day at Open Sky won’t break the bank – you can pick up an all-day activity ticket for just over R100 per person! Now that’s affordable family fun!
Shamwari Game Reserve
When you think of Port Elizabeth, you think of beaches and sunshine, not safaris and game drives. But, you know what? You’re thinking wrong! A short drive away from The Boardwalk Hotel lies Shamwari Game Reserve. A private game reserve that’s home to an abundance of wildlife, the team at Shamwari turn game drives into game fun drives for the kids.
Their special Kids on Safari packages will see the bigger ones off on a game drive while the smaller ones are kept enthralled with a bunch of fun activities. While the Shamwari rangers guide their excited eyes to the right spots, the kids can gaze at giraffes or watch elephants as they roam across the veld.
And, to answer your question – we checked with the locals to see when’s the best time to visit PE. They said: TODAY!
