25 April - 28 April 2016
The vibrant animals and characters will all be handmade from scratch by a team of four people who will spend about ten days preparing the garden. As per tradition, The Boardwalk’s culinary team has something “egg-stra” special up their sleeves to mark Easter. This year the hotel the team of chefs will be creating a spectacular edible Easter garden which will be on display at The Boardwalk Hotel from Friday, 25 March 2016. Visitors to The Boardwalk are welcome to view and take photographs of the marvellous creation.
Spanning 1.5 square metres, the edible garden promises to be every child’s fantasy, burgeoning with green grass, colourful flowers and plants; frolicking mice and bunnies; fishermen gnomes and a running stream.
The edible garden will be on display at The Boardwalk Hotel until after Easter when it will be carefully transported to Healing Minds crèche in Walmer Township. The school cares for about 60 young children from underprivileged backgrounds. Many of the children are orphans and stay on the school premises.
Healing Minds relies heavily on the support and donations it receives from the public in order to continue offering its invaluable services to the community. The Boardwalk looks forward to delighting the young children with the opportunity to tuck into the edible garden’s delicious sweet treats. This is the kind of stuff that little children dream of!
