The Top 3 Must-See Joburg Art Galleries
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once said "One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words." While we can't endorse the virtues of reasonable words (some prefer the unreasonable kind)wecan wholeheartedly endorse the bit about poetry, music and art. When your soul is hungry, only a trip to one of these inspiring Joburg art galleries will feed it.
From the Johannesburg Art Gallery to the Standard Bank Art Gallery, Joburg art galleries are some of the best on the continent. Those quick to dismiss a visit to an art gallery while mumbling something about not being "an arty type" should consider the benefits of viewing art. Recent studies have found that a trip to the gallery can increase a sense of well-being by decreasing negative emotions and reducing stress.
Something like a 2-in-1 deal, Leonardo da Vinci explained art this way: "Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen."
Did you know? Leonardo da Vinci was the love child of peasant, and a lawyer and landlord. He was homeschooled and lacked a formal education in Greek and Latin.
