Best tourist attractions in Victoria Falls

Whether you have a trip planned already, or are toying around with the idea of visiting Zambia, these are some of the best tourist attractions in Victoria Falls that belong on any world travellers’ bucket list.

A piece of the earth relatively unscathed by human intervention, the Victoria Falls in Zambia is a sight to behold. The largest waterfall in the world, Victoria Falls sits right on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, almost directly in the middle of the length of the Zambezi. When first visited in November 1855 by Scotsman Dr David Livingstone, the missionary and physician took pause and noted, “scenes so wonderful must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight."

So, what could we tell you to excite the adventurer in you before your planned visit? Here are some of the best tourist attractions in Victoria Falls to get your heart racing for an adventure in Zambia:

The Lunar Rainbow

If you time your visit to Victoria Falls right, you will be able to witness the spectacular lunar rainbows that occur once a month. These rainbows happen naturally in very few places in the world, but none with quite as spectacular a backdrop as the “Smoke that Thunders.

The Victoria Falls

Named by Livingstone after the Queen of England, this star of the show spans a monstrous 1,708m wide and 108m high at its’ middle point. The Falls are simply spectacular.

Adventuring

White water rafting, bungee jumping, canoeing, hiking, the list goes on and on. If you’re an outdoor thrill seeker, whatever your pleasure, you’ll find one here.

Just cruising

There isn’t an excursion much more romantic, if that’s what your holiday is about, than cruising gently down one of the biggest rivers in Africa. Watch the sky turn to flames, the sun setting on the horizon, with your love at your side.

Devil’s Pool

Should you visit in between September and December, dare yourself to take a thrilling dip at the edge of the world. Devil's Pool is a bizarre occurrence on the edge of the Victoria Falls, where a natural wall has formed. It’s enough to make anyone feel invincible. Or very, very fallible.

Flight of Angels Helicopter Ride

The Flight of Angels is a reference to the comment made by Dr Livingstone when first experiencing the Falls. The helicopter ride offers spectacular sights of the Falls from up high. This is by far one of the best tourist attractions in Victoria Falls.

High Tea

The setting ignites the imagination with images of early adventurers, and will transport you back in time to the 1800s, when Livingstone first visited. What better way to experience the area than to do so in true British fashion, with a spectacular High Tea in the Lounge and Travellers Bar at the Royal Livingstone? Served every day at 15h00.

Royal Spa

Another jaw dropper of an experience based at the Royal Livingstone is provided by The Royal Spa. Enjoy a massage, or any therapeutic indulgence really, overlooking the Zambezi river in all of its splendour.

Besides the best tourist attractions in Victoria Falls, there is a whole new world to explore in Zambia. Book your next great African adventure at The Royal Livingstone.
