There was absolutely no doubt in Gary Player’s mind as to who would earn his vote for the #StrokeofGenius from the final round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

“Without a question it goes to Branden Grace on the 16^th hole,” said the Black Knight.

Grace was involved in a great contest with Scotland’s Scott Jamieson that saw them tied for the lead on 10 under playing the par-three 16^th.

After a wayward tee shot that hit the grandstand and bounced back out into the greenside rough, Jamieson almost holed his chip shot from there, which lipped the hole. He tapped in for par. That left Grace with an almost 50-foot putt. And he rolled it straight in to take a one-stroke lead.

That was all the lead he needed and he carried it to 18, and victory.

“He missed a few shorties, but he holed it when it really counted,” said Player.

“We are so proud of him. He’s a South African winner – the first time in 10 years. That to me was absolutely brilliant.”
