Boardwalk remains the Bay’s top draw.
Port Elizabeth Express Reader’s Choice Award
The beloved entertainment, convention, and accommodation precinct clinched the inaugural Port Elizabeth Express Reader’s Choice Award for favourite hotel.
Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World has been voted Gqeberha’s favourite hotel by PE Express readers in its inaugural Readers’ Choice Awards – a testament to Sun International’s enduring commitment to world-class service and truly memorable experiences for every guest. It takes more than views to get visitors to return and a lot more to become a beloved hotel brand. It is a philosophy centred on high service standards and striving to deliver above and beyond expectations with every check-in.
With a prime location overlooking one of South Africa’s most stunning blue-flag beaches, Boardwalk has grown from its foundations in October 2000 through continuous investment – from the R1-billion redevelopment in 2012 to the more recent R500-million Boardwalk Mall expansion – offering guests luxurious accommodation and exceptional dining and retail opportunities.
Great investment
The 2012 investment allowed the hotel to add to its luxurious accommodation, restaurant, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and a world-class health spa with facilities including an indoor plunge pool, while the 23 500m2 Boardwalk Mall, which houses over 94 tenants and some of the country’s leading brands, has received consistently high feedback.
But Boardwalk is much more than a beautiful place to stay in a picturesque location. It’s the property’s commitment to warm, friendly service that has captured the hearts of guests and so, the award belongs to the remarkable staff who make every stay memorable, from the hotel and spa to the casino, restaurant, and Boardwalk Mall. Guests find a home away from home here, whether they’re on a family vacation, a romantic getaway, or a business trip.
Known as The Friendly City, Gqeberha offers a blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and a warm South African welcome that makes it a sought-after destination. Complementing its natural allure, it offers a lively arts and entertainment scene, rich historical sites, and easy access to game reserves, making it an ideal destination for travelers who want both adventure and relaxation.
At the heart of this vibrant city is the Boardwalk Hotel, one of the jewels in Sun International’s portfolio, which has become an iconic landmark in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Reader’s Choice
The Port Elizabeth Express is a popular weekly newspaper in English and Afrikaans that’s distributed across the Gqeberha metropolitan area. During September, readers voted for their favourite local business across a range of categories in a bid to land R20 000 in cash. In the end, the Bay’s residents made their voices heard, with more than 6 000 nominations received. The results were published in a special edition, and of course, Boardwalk was front and centre in the hotel category.
“Thank you to all of our beloved guests who voted for us. We appreciate your loyalty and in turn, Boardwalk hotel will always be an engaging space where locals are welcomed and celebrated. Long may we continue to serve you!” said Boardwalk General Manager Tati Tsunke.
Incredible loyal guests make Boardwalk the cherished destination it is today. Here’s to many more unforgettable moments together!
